Rosa glauca

  • Common Name - red leafed rose
  • Botanical Name - Rosa glauca
  • Family - Rosaceae
  • Leaf - simple, elliptical shape, acute apex, blue/green glaucas
  • Flower - pink flowers 2.5–4 cm in diameter, July - August
  • Bud - alternate
  • Fruit - berry
  • Bark - new growth has plumb coloured stems
  • Habit - suckering shrub
  • Form - vase, upright 
  • Size - 6 -8 feet
  • Culture - well drained soil, full sun
  • Use - mixed shrub border
  • Notes - needs to be pruned from the bottom, susceptible to a large number of disease problems
